Rene Mendez began his formal studies at the Modern School of Music in Chile, under the guidance of teacher David Ortega, an outstanding Cuban percussionist and drummer, managing to delve into Afro-Latin music, which encompasses many styles, especially from Cuba and Brazil. This allowed him to venture early into Latin jazz as part of the Modern Latin Ensemble and Antoine Alvear's Latin jazz quintet.
Over time, he continued to study independently, getting involved in various styles such as Jazz, Metal, Hip-hop, Tropical, among others, highlighting his versatility and sharing stages with important artists in Chili as well as in the rest of the world. He is currently collaborating as a drummer in the Sonora 5 Estrellas, Franz Mesko's Mixed Technique, Norea del Korte and Knom, Gabo Paillao's musical project.
